Saw palmetto is small and low growing, and has fanlike fingery fronds and small berry-shaped fruits with pungent taste. Saw palmetto fruit contains phytochemicals that inhibit 5-alpha-reductase and aromatoase that cause BPH development.
The prostate gland grows larger as men age, a condition known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). By age 40, 10% of men develop BPH. By age 50, 50% of men have enlarged prostate glands. Prostate gland encircles male urethra, and enlargement in prostate gland blocks urinary passage, causing BPH symptoms including bedtime and frequent urination. BPH is caused by the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) fruits have been demonstrated to inhibit DHT formation through the inhibitory effect on 5-alpha-reductase activity. Inhibition of DHT formation is also known to be beneficial for hair growth if you are experiencing age-related hair loss.
Clinical research indicates that regular use of saw palmetto provides phytonutrients that may help maintain a
healthy prostate.
Directions:
Men, take one softgel two times daily, preferably with a meal.
