Is the treatment painful?
There will be a tingling sensation during treatment, but most people tolerate
it well. There are different power settings for different levels of comfort. However,
there should be some tingling sensation for successful results.
How long does it take to see results?
Electrolysis permanently destroys hair. However, even after you completely clear
an area in one treatment you will see some re-growth. The new growth that you
see is not the same hair that you treated originally but fresh anagen hairs, which
were resting at the time of the original treatment. Human hair grows in cycles
and therefore not all hair is growing at once. It usually takes 3 to 4 months
for all hairs to go through a complete growth cycle and all hairs will need to
be electrolyzed before they stop their cycle. After each treatment you will notice
about a 20% reduction in hair growth in the treatment area. This reduction is
permanent and will compound until there is no more hair growth in the treatment
area.
What would be considered permanent hair removal?
Permanent hair removal can not be completed in a single treatment of the area.
Because hair grows in cycles you will have about a 20% reduction in hair growth.
As the hair goes through all its cycles there will be no more hair growth.
Is this procedure going to irritate my skin?
There might be little red spots appearing around the treated area but they are
only temporary, so do not be alarmed. You should consider that an indication
of successful treatment since there are high levels of sodium hydroxide in the
hair shaft. The power setting can be reduced if you find a certain level is
causing excessive irritation.
Does the Vector process actually remove the hair at the time of treatment?
No. The Vector electrolysis process causes the water and minerals inside the
hair shaft to turn into sodium hydroxide, then the hair follicle is permanently
destroyed. It is best to allow at least 15 minutes before removing the hair
after treatment to allow the sodium hydroxide time to dissolve the hair follicle.
The hair may then be removed from the skin with tweezers. The hair may also
be left in the skin and it will shed on its own, usually within 10-15 days.
Can I reuse the electrode patches?
Yes. The electrode patches are reusable. After each use rinse the adhesive side
with warm water, then place it back on the plastic sheet for storage. If you
don¡¯t do this right after removing the patch it will dry out and
may not be reused. The normal life expectancy of the patch is 10 uses.
How much conductivity gel should I use with each treatment?
Coat the hair that is to be treated with the conductive gel all the way down
to the skin using a Q-tip. Since hair cannot conduct electricity, the gel is
the medium through which electricity can reach the highly conductive environment
inside the hair shaft, therefore make sure there is a visible layer of gel between
the skin and the tweezers, otherwise treatment will not be effective.
Always be sure to maintain an adequate gel level on the hair. If the gel dries
then it will fail to conduct current. If your skin is very dry then you may
also need to put a dab of gel under the patch as well. If you are not feeling
a slight stinging sensation is a sign that the gel may be dry.
