Lipase is the enzyme that breaks apart fat molecules into single monomers for absorption into the bloodstream. A ipase inhibitor interferes with the function of lipase, which results in fat molecules remaining in their original large state, undigested and unabsorbed as they move through the gastrointestinal tract. The fat blocking constituents of the Xenistat formulation are two remarkable lipase inhibitors, called Lipstatin and Cassianomame. These two lipase inhibitors, inhibit the absorption of fat in fatty foods by as much as 56%.
Amylase is the enzyme that acts on starchy carbohydrate molecules in a manner similar to what lipase does on fat molecules and, accordingly, an amylase blocker, or neutralizer, inhibits the action of amylase. The starchy carbohydrate blocking constituent of the Xenistat formulation is an alpha amylase neutralizer, called the novel Phase 2 white kidney bean extract, which neutralize the absorption of starchy carbohydrates by as much as 66%.
